PTA has launched the mobile edition of its website

PTA has launched the mobile edition of its website, available in Wireless Application Protocol or WAP, mobile edition will allow cell phone phone users to access the optimized version of PTA website through their mobile handsets.

Mobile users can now access PTA’s website here: http://wap.pta.gov.pk (will open in WAP browsers)

WAP version of website contains all the information available in regular edition but in optimized form, based on simple-text and smaller images, to help mobile users load the information quicker with little consumption of bandwidth.

It may be noted that PTA had launched Urdu version of its website recently to facilitate a large segment of the population having less familiarity with English contents.

Britney’s website shoots down nutty rumours

Britney Spears took aim at some of the tabloid stories that have dogged her through 2009, publishing a list of the top 75 articles deemed to be the most ridiculous. A statement on Spears’ official website said more than 13,000 stories had been written about the singer this year – and many were either “patently absurd or simply offensive.”
“We ranked the ones we believe were the most ridiculous,” the statement said, trumpeting the website’s list of the ‘top 75 Bull—- Britney Spears stories’ of 2009. Among the stories to make the list include a report from a London tabloid citing a new Spears biography which stated that the singer’s family used to eat squirrel meat during her “trailer park childhood”. According to the Daily Star, the revelations had sent “sales of squirrel meat soaring” as fans “snapped up squirrel, rabbit and possum meat from butchers and restaurants”.
Another item on the list – weighing in at 57th place – was Spears’ addiction to “flower therapy”, a system which uses plant essences to “balance physical and emotional disturbances”.
Also on the list was a report from London’s Evening Standard claiming that Spears had requested a stripper’s pole to be installed at her suite in The Dorchester Hotel to help the singer stay in shape. “Britney loves pole dancing, it is her new favorite workout,” an unidentified source told the newspaper. “She wants to be able to do it in the privacy of her own hotel room.”
At number one was a January story from Britain’s Daily Mirror revealing that Spears was dating Indian choreographer Sandip Soparrkar and that she had hosted a private New Year’s Eve party to introduce him to her friends and parents. Several of the stories near the top of the list related to Spears’ recent troubled tour of Australia, including a November 7 story from the Herald Sun newspaper which revealed fans had walked out of a concert in Perth because of her lip-synching. Despite quotes from
several named fans unhappy at Spears’ performance, promoters for the concert insisted that reports of a walkout were inaccurate. afp

Ufone website have a new look

After a long time, Ufone’s old website design becomes a part of history – as it got a new design, with same theme however little variation in colors and object placement. Clearly Ufone wanted to more focus on its Value Added Services, hence they are given prominence on home page.

Most Contents designed in Flash, but its not so heavy just ok – as it has allowed Ufone to incorporate more featured products on the top, while latest offers are also shown in the center area.

Thanks to 2 menues, one at top and one at page center – covers almost all corners with a direct link to pages that users look at most. Games, Utunes, Wallpapers and other VAS are exclusively covered in a block on lower half of web page.

Search button is finally there – but it wasn’t working for me – maybe webmaster is still tweaking with it or what.
ufone_website
Over all a clean and comprehensive lay out, with majority of user needed content right on the front page.

Moreover you can see some consumer alerts at the end of the page, and PR Corner at the page mid.

rehman_malik
Pakistani Politicians having intrest to come online and publish their activities on social community websites, like facebook, youtube, orkut,
Rehman Malik, Interior Minister of pakistan has publish his fully functional website up and live – even more pleasing is that he will be available for chat with general public for one hour fortnightly. That’s pretty impressive on his part.

If you look at this website, it has got plenty of sections, including Videos, Pictures, press releases, latest news and much more including a newsletter.

Are you amazed? Here is even more amazing that Mr Rehman Malik has make his Facebook page, Myspace, Friendster and even You Tube Channel.

Facebook page or other profiles on community websites haven’t got much content, maybe Malik’s team is process of making right now. But if you look at website’s feel, it is evident that minister has got some serious plans to follow.

So that’s what we call online presence…!
Here is Website Address: http://www.rehmanmalik.com/
Facebook Page
MySpace
Friendster
Youtube Channel
Twitter – Not available right now, but let’s expect twitter to happen soon.
Apparently this is not official website – meaning that not published by the Government of Pakistan, however, Mr. Malik’s staff would be updating it. Domain name was registered in the name of Faisal Malik back in May 2009 – looks he had this in mind for long.

If this is not official website, then there are good chances that Mr. Rehman may use the followers/readers/fans even when he won’t be in government.
