Call Phone from Your Gmail
Google is easing our lives, this time by embedding a phone dialer in your Gmail. Earlier it was told that phone feature is only for people in US and Canada, however, phone dialer is appearing in all countries for now. Google said that calls to the U.S. and Canada will be free for at least the rest of the year and calls to other countries will be billed at very nominal rates. Kick going by simply installing the voice and video plug-in and you are done! P.S. Calls made to US from Pakistan are not getting through, at the moment at least. TSF Offers Free Phones Calls in Flood Hit Areas
The telecoms emergency aid charity, Telecoms sans Frontieres (TSF) says that it has now set up eight centres in Pakistan to assist aid agencies with communications services and help stranded locals phone relatives to assure them of their situation. The eight mobile teams, equipped with satellite and GSM phones, are based in the districts of Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda and plan to operate for at least a month. The teams are composed of one man and one woman to allow both men and women to make a call. 3 Social Organizers were also recruited to inform the population of the service in the areas surrounding the operations so that a maximum number of people affected are aware of the service and given a chance to call. Zong Giving free Handsets SIMs & EDGE Dongles to International Organization for helping Flood
Zong has given free handsets, SIMs & EDGE Dongles to International Organization for Migration (IOM) to provide free phone service to flood victims to get vital information, seek help and access relief services offered by the government and other aid agencies. IOM is using these handsets and SIMs to establish free calling booths at the relief camps in flood affected areas of the country. On its part ZONG will not be charging these calls, in flood affected areas so that people can get in touch with their families in other parts of the country. Each phone has a pre-paid SIM card with 800 free minutes a day for at least two months. Collectively, the hundred phones can make slightly over a million calls.
