Qubee Donates Funds Rs. 3.5 m to Flood Victims

Qubee, WiMax broadband internet provider in Pakistan , has donated Rs. 3.5 million to support relief efforts and rehabilitation of flood victims in Pakistan .

CEO Qubee Mubashir Naqvi, while stressing the need of the hour said this is the social responsibility of each corporate entity to come forward for the relief efforts for 20 million displaced flood victims. He said Qubee and its employees will never leave the people of Pakistan alone in such trying and testing times. We are committed and standing shoulder to shoulder with the nation to provide all out support to flood victims.

Qubee’s employees have also donated Part of their salaries for the relief efforts while ration and dry food items etc are also being distributed among the people in flood affected areas and relief camps all across Pakistan.

Motorola Foundation has donated US$50,000 for Flood

The Motorola Foundation has donated US$50,000 to CARE (www.care.org) and pledged an additional US$50,000 to match Motorola employee donations to CARE For Pakistani Flood victums.

“Our sympathies are extended to the people affected by these natural disasters” said Karen Tandy, senior vice president, public affairs, Motorola. “This donation is an example of Motorola’s continued commitment to humanitarian relief throughout the world.”

Other than the donation from Motorola Foundation, employees in Pakistan have also contributed meaningfully towards relief activities for flood survivors.

Motorola Pakistan has supplied food and other staple items including medicines worth US$14,600 through rescue teams in different areas of Punjab and Khayber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

PTA Contributes Rs. 201 Million for Flood Relief Fund


Dr. Mohammed Yaseen Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), presented cheque of Rs. 201.43 million to the Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani for the “Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2010 for the Assistance of Flood Affected People”, established for the relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people.

The amount included Rs. 200 million contribution by PTA, Rs. 0.65 million of one day salary donated by PTA employees and Rs.0.78 million collected through 1234 SMS service. Chairman PTA along with Secretary Cabinet, Mr. Abdul Rauf Chaudhary presented cheques for donation during a meeting with the Prime Minister.

PTA is also engaged with the telecom operators for the prompt restoration of telecom networks in flood-stricken areas. It has started 1234 Service to collect donations through SMS. Subscribers can send SMS by writing “Fund” to 1234 and each SMS would contribute Rs 10 to the fund.

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani urged the Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to ensure the reconstruction of telecommunication infrastructure in the flood-hit areas to strengthen the relief activities.

The Prime Minister appreciated the gesture of PTA employees who contributed one day’s salary to help their distressed brethren in flood-hit areas.

The Chairman PTA apprised the Prime Minister of the damage caused to telecom infrastructure in flood affected areas and also various ways devised by PTA for early reconstruction of the network.

Contribute to PM Flood Relief Fund by Sending an SMS

PTA in collaboration with telecom industry has started “1234″ SMS service to supplement the efforts of the govt in its rescue and rehabilitation efforts for the flood affected across the country.

The short code 1234 has been activated from all cellular mobile operators platform. SMS can be sent to 1234 by writing “Fund” which will be charged RS.10/- excluding taxes for contributing to PM flood relief fund 2010 for flood affectees peoples.

The amount collected by “1234″ sms would be deposted to PM’s flood relief fund 2010 for which a special account has been created in NBP (A/c No. 898989)

People are reqeusted by PTA to send maximum numbers of sms to help their affected brothers in this hour of need.

Ufone and PTCL Donated Fund to Flood Relief


Pakistan Telecommunication Company Pakistan Ptcl and Ufone, donated Rs.53.5 million to the Prime Minister’s flood relief fund.

President PTCL and Ufone Mr. Walid Irshaid and CEO Ufone Mr Abdul Aziz met the honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Yousuf Raza Gillani and expressed their solidarity at this time of need.

The Company has and always will stand by the people of Pakistan. This Donation is in response to the recent call for help from the private sector by the Prime Minister.

President PTCL and Ufone Pakistan Mr. Walid Irshaid said that this is a testing time for all in Pakistan. The natural calamities have been unimaginable and it is up to each one of us to come together in order to create a unified effort to help the people of Pakistan.

We as socially responsible organizations need to join hands and make this the fastest and most effective relief effort ever. And hoped this contribution will help in providing people relief of their grievous conditions.
