LG Announces the G Pad 8.3 Tablet Full Specification

As the announcement of the second iteration of iPad Mini draws near, the tablet-makers have all started to throw their best efforts into the competition. The LG G Pad 8.3 is the latest effort from LG and borrows some design knowledge from the company’s latest G2 flagship.

The tablet offers an 8.3 inch display upfront, with a superb resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels meaning pixel density of 273ppi. The G Pad 8.3 is just 8.33mm thick and 338g heavy (what coincidence!).

Under the hood, you get a 1.7Ghz quad-core SnapDragon 600 processor with 2 GB RAM. The amount of storage is set at 16 GB of expandable storage.

Around the back, sits a 5 megapixel camera. There’s also a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front. There’s a 4600 mAh battery to power the tablet up which might dazzle when looked upon initially, but is lesser than the norm.

The OS running on the tablet is Android 4.2.2, which as you would expect, is customized. It comes with its own bag of software tricks. QPair pairs the tablet with your phone and allows you to takes phone calls and messages directly on it. QSlide allows 3 apps to run onscreen at once. KnockON turns the tablet on and off by double-tapping.

Here are the full specs of the tablet:

  • Customized Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
  • 8.3 inch display with resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels
  • 8.3mm thick
  • 338g heavy
  • 1.7Ghz quad-core SnapDragon 600 processor
  • 2 GB RAM with 16 GB expandable storage
  • 5 megapixel rear-camera
  • 1.3 megapixel front-camera
  • 4600 mAh battery
  • Several software tricks under its bag

The tablet will be available in Q4 of this year for an unknown price tag. Given its great specifications list, if priced competitively, it has got everything to become a bestseller.

8.3 inch is the perfect size for people who find 7 inch tablets to be too small for practical use and 10 inch too large to be portable. This is why the G Pad 8.3 makes so much sense right now.

LG Announced A Its Latest and Greatest Smartphone LG G2

After teasing its next big phone for quite some time, LG has finally taken the covers off its latest and greatest smartphone. The new flagship, simply called the G2 (nothing Optimus here) has a 5.2 inch display and SnapDragon 800 processor.

The first thing you’ll notice with the G2 is that it has got almost no bezels. Also, the plastic-made phone has no hardware key at the front. The back boasts a 13 megapixel camera, and below it are the only hardware keys of the whole package. The volume control and lock keys are placed at the back because LG thinks that’s the right place for big phones like side, as compared to those on the sides, and also improves the users’ grip.

The display of the LG G2 is a 5.2 inch IPS touchscreen, with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and brightness rating of 450 nits. It’s Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protected. The display also features a technology called GRAM which reduces power consumption by 26%.

LG G2 is the first widely available smartphone with SnapDragon 800 processor. The processor is clocked at 2.26Ghz and is accompanied by Adreno 330. The amount of RAM available is 2 GB, while the amount of storage you’ll get is 16 or 32 GB which is non-expandable.

The phone runs on customized Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and comes with several software tricks of its own.

AnswerMe allows you to take phone calls by just taking the phone to your screen. In Guest Mode, you make a special, different-than-usual gesture to unlock the phone, which then displays the customized OS for other people to use. It’s a great feature for privacy in-case you have something on your phone that you want to hide.

KnockON lets you double-tap the display as an alternative to pressing the power lock key. Slide Aside lets you close running apps by simply sliding three fingers across the screen. QuickRemote turns your phone into a universal remote.

The camera on the LG G2 is of 13 megapixels with 1080p Full HD resolution at 60 frames per second, twice of almost all flagships.

Here are the specs of the smartphone:

  • Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
  • 5.2 inch Full HD IPS display
  • 8.9mm thick
  • 143g heavy
  • 2.26Ghz Qualcomm SnapDragon 800 processor & Adreno 330 GPU
  • 2 GB RAM with 16/32 GB non-expandable storage
  • 13 megapixel camera with Full HD 1080p video recording at 60fps
  • Optical Image Stabilization and HDR
  • 2.1 megapixel Full HD front-facing camera
  • Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, Infrared, GPS
  • 3000 mAh battery
  • Available in Black and White

The LG G2 will be available worldwide in the coming two months. Pricing details are unknown though.

LG to Introduce Eye Recognition Feature in Optimus G Pro Smartphone

Smart Video, a new multimedia UX feature from LG will be unveiled for the first time in the Optimus G Pro.

Smart Video takes viewing videos on mobile devices to a whole new level of convenience with eye recognition that eliminates the need to manually control playback during the viewing experience.

Through the implementation of advanced eye recognition technology, Smart Video recognizes the position of the viewer’s eyes and automatically plays or stops the video without any manual input from the user. When the viewer’s eyes are no longer focused on the smartphone display, the front camera recognizes this and immediately pauses the video automatically. Once the user’s gaze returns to the smartphone, the video resumes playback from the point last viewed.

In addition to the Smart Video feature, Optimus G Pro will also be equipped with the world’s first Dual Camera function. The Dual Camera feature is an extension of the Dual Recording feature which debuted on the Optimus G Pro introduced in the Korean market last month. Dual Camera simultaneously captures photographs using both the front and back cameras for a picture-in-picture composition. Users can now be a part of the story, not just observers.

The Smart Video and Dual Camera features will be introduced as a part of the Value Pack upgrade which will be offered for the Optimus G Pro in the Korean market next month. These features will also be made available in other markets too.
