Air India Plane Crash at Mangalore International Airport
At least 159 people are feared dead in an Air India plane crash this morning. The flight, which was landing from Dubai, overshot the runway and went over a cliff into a valley.
Authorities believe eight people survived.
The crash happened at Mangalore International Airport, on India’s southwestern coast.
Abhay Pathak, a regional manager for Air India, told CNN that of the passengers, “32 were women, 105 were men, 19 were children and four were infants.”
Families will receive 200,000 rupees ($4264 USD) for each dead passenger or 50,000 rupees ($1066.10 USD) as compensation for each injured passenger.
